After Adam Towers SURVIVES his attack

He decides to leave London as he now lives in constant fear. He pulls out a map and points to a random part of Europe. Of course Adam lands in Bucharest. He ends up moving into a small little upstairs apartment in the same District as the Youth Hostel Charlie stays in. In fact, he and Charlie take the same plane into Romania.

Adam works from his little apartment, proofreading editorials and such from his old employer (an act of pity on the now broken journalist). He has a very difficult time leaving his apartment or interacting with anyone socially as he is dealing with an acute affliction of PTSD. He also won’t be seen without his green scarf (to hide the mangled scar gripping his neck – from being strangled so violently)

( turtlenecks too, minus the fancy clothes as he’s a bit poor now and humbled form his ordeal )

But soon the temp work proves to be too little to live off and he must find work to supplement. A friendly neighbor (involved in the crime syndicate) directs him towards Darko’s club, where he’s employed taking cash exchanges and doctoring expense reports, maybe even working schedules and making friends with some of the dance girls.

Adam feels safer in the club, surrounded by so much security and he feels more in place in the seedy environment, working in the dark of night and chatting with the unique staff.

After a while Adam notices the underbelly of the club, the drug trafficking and strong armed mafia practices and is attracted to it, a few times expressing interest in helping Darko with his work (not being a stranger himself to amoral tactics in finding information or pushing his stories)

Darko responds with sarcasm, calling him “too small” for the work and “weak” Adam accepts the dismissal, but still keeps an ear open and a hopeful spirit. 

This ends up giving Adam a front row seat as Charlie and Gabi’s story unfold, he notices Nigel and when he hears all the commotion about setting up a meeting at “The Dock” he follows Darko’s men and watches as they string Charlie Up

Nigel is shot in the abdomen instead of head and crawls away to hide under the dock. Adam has been watching and finds Nigel bleeding to death and decides to help him ( maybe a tactic to get on Darko’s good side or build leverage to join the crime boss) – dragging him to his car, Adam takes him back to his little apartment.
