Bryan Fuller announced he is collaborating with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PeTA) on a Hannibal project.
PeTA uses racist, misogynistic, anti-Semitic ‘shock campaigns’. Its leaders have stated their opposition to all animal testing, even the research that treats life-threatening diseases, including HIV/AIDS. Their shelters killed 88% of the animals taken in 2014.
Unfortunately very relevant to the content of Hannibal, PeTA runs ad campaigns using actual serial murderers and the suffering of human victims (see here, here, and here ).
There is a bright line between a fictional psychological thriller show, with the deaths of fictional characters, and advertising that exploits and trivializes the murders of real people.
Please urge Bryan Fuller to work with the ASPCA, or countless other reputable organizations, instead.
