Fanfic writers couldn’t understand. Oh that’s right, because it’s not original work, because we haven’t been published like you? Well that’s a load of bullshit because we do understand. Many of us want to be authors, we want to be screenwriters, we want to be published one day. We write original works on top of writing fanfic. We’re trying to learn formatting, we’re trying to learn what it takes to be published.

There was another one of her tweets that said fanfic writers couldn’t handle it.

Fuck you, seriously. One day when I publish my first book I’m going to send you all of my “couldn’t handle it” Destiel fics in the mail.

This is such bullshit. First of all, I know PLENTY of fan fic writers who have/are going to be published. Whether they’re publishing in m/m romance genre, YA, or romance in general is irrelevant. They fact is, they are no less aware of deadlines (having entered numerous fic competitions) no strangers to editing (having two or three betas and editors before they post) and they’re definitely no strangers to input or formatting. First of all, publishing is nothing like it used to be, which is why books like 50 Shades Of Crap are ending up on bestselling shelves. Second of all, I know 2 fanfic writers, personally, who could write S.E. Hinton under the table without any of her ‘publishing’ experience and could probably continue on to do so long after she’s dried up – oh wait, that’s already happened.

Fanfic writers are writers, unpublished or not. They don’t lack in any area except maybe publishing skills, which today, in the great world of Amazon self-publish, anyone can do blindfolded with one arm tied behind their back. Moreover, fanfic writers are criticized, made fun of, get no compensation for their work, and still keep writing. Unlike some authors who had three original thoughts that got made into books and now think they’re better than everyone else.

this creep is so full of shit, LMAO

Fanfiction is more relevant and more made for the consumer then anything else on the market. They literally cater exactly to what the reader needs. If that isn’t the future of books then I don’t know what is.

Thank you fanfiction writers for your time and effort.

amen
